Main interests: Angiogenesis and inflammation in disease and tissue regeneration
She obtained her degree in Biochemistry in 1986, at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto. She obtained her Master, she concluded her PhD degree in Human Biology at FMUP. She has degree in Oncobiology at Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) in 1996, and in 2004 obtained her habilitation in 2009 and is full professor since 2012. She lectures Biochemistry since 1998 at FMUP, and several master and doctoral programs from FMUP. She coordinates the Metabolism – Clinic and Experimental PhD program, and is head of department of Biochemistry department. She is also director of department of Support of Research and Post-Graduation at FMUP. She coordinates the research group in “Metabolism, nutrition and endocrinology” in i3S (Institute of Research and Innovation of the University of Porto) R&D unit, published over 100 full papers in ISI indexed journals, authored 37 research projects, is reviewer of more than 50 international journals and of several international funding agencies.
